Equality Pennsylvania denounces Trump Tweet against transgender service members 

WASHINGTON, D.C – Today, Equality Pennsylvania’s leadership team joined more than 200 LGBTQ civil rights movement in Alexandria just across the river from Washington, D.C. for the annual Equality Federation Leadership Conference as President Trump announced his intention, in a series of tweets, to ban transgender people from serving in the military. Allentown, PA Becomes third Municipality in PA to Protect Youth from “Conversion Therapy”

HARRISBURG– Today, Equality Pennsylvania, the statewide organization working to advance LGBTQ equality and the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) civil rights organization, praised the Allentown, Pennsylvania City Council for unanimously passing and Mayor Ed Pawlowski for signing a measure protecting LGBTQ youth from the dangerous and discredited practice of “conversion therapy.” The ordinance prohibits licensed mental health professionals from engaging in conversion therapy with minors within the city and imposes potential business license revocation for violations.  Allentown is the third Pennsylvania city to pass such a measure, following Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Executive Director Ted Martin to leave Equality Pa. on June 30

At its board of directors meeting on June 4, 2017, the Board of Directors of Equality Pennsylvania accepted the resignation of Executive Director Ted Martin.  Martin’s last day with the organization will be June 30, 2017.
     “It has been a tremendous honor for me to serve as executive director. I never foresaw myself staying for seven years back in 2010, but I am glad I did,” said Martin.
     During Martin’s seven-year tenure, the organization grew from a small regional operation to a statewide organization.  In those years, Pennsylvania changed dramatically for LGBTQ people and Equality PA was the engine that drove many of the battles and efforts and conversations that made great things happen.

Pa, groups head to DC for Equality March, plan local rallies

The “Equality March for Unity & Pride” is a grassroots movement which will mobilize the diverse LGBTQ+ communities to peacefully and clearly address concerns about the current political landscapes and how it is contributing to the persecution and discrimination of LGBTQ+ individuals.  Progress has been made over the past decade in the ongoing fight for LGBTQ+ inclusion, access, and justice, but there’s still so much more to be done – especially since the progress we’ve achieved is currently being threatened by increased hostile rhetoric, discriminatory policies, and violence perpetrated against the most vulnerable in our communities.
