Equality Pennsylvania Hosts Tele-town Hall with Sen. Bob Casey

Topic of Town Hall: Issues Facing the LGBT Community in 2017

Harrisburg – As part of the Equality Pennsylvania series of Town Halls around the state, Sen. Bob Casey will be the keynote speaker at the statewide tele-town hall. The purpose of the town hall is to talk about issues facing the LGBT Community in 2017 and how to support LGBT people. In the new political climate, there has been a rise in hate related violence and there will likely be changes in policies that have protected LGBT people from discrimination in different realms of life. For example, the Trump Administration’s Department of Justice recently rescinded the guidance to schools that they interpret Title IX to cover transgender children and protect them from sex discrimination at school.

To help educate the community about these policies and how they may be affected, Equality Pennsylvania is holding community town halls to field questions, and to encourage community engagement. We are very pleased to have Sen. Casey join us to give us some perspective on what is happening in Washington. Sen. Casey will be followed by Equality PA Executive Director, Ted Martin, to give the state perspective.

The details for the first town hall are as follows:
