Now is the time. Join us on June 22.

I wanted to write to you to ask you to do whatever you can to make it to Harrisburg next week on June 22. We need your voice to tell our leaders in Harrisburg that now is the time to pass comprehensive nondiscrimination protections.

Support for comprehensive discrimination protections is evident all over the state.  Earlier this week, close to my home in Scranton, a municipal ordinance was passed in the borough of Dickson City, PA to protect the LGBT community from discrimination.  The City Council voted for the ordinance unanimously.  Not one person attending the meeting spoke out against the ordinance. Dickson City is a small borough just North of Scranton, but it is a major hub for business, including dozens of retailers, chain stores, and restaurants. Now, all of its employees will be protected and LGBT people can dine in restaurants without fear of being denied service.

This is the 35th ordinance to pass in our state and I hope that it will be the last ordinance we have to pass.  Although more people are now covered from being denied a job, housing, or public accommodations on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity or expression, we need our entire state to be covered.

That is why it is so important that we work to pass comprehensive discrimination protections to afford those same rights to every person in the Commonwealth.  If we stand up to discrimination, we can help eradicate hate and violence towards our community.

After the tragic events in Orlando last week, I am more compelled than ever to stand up for LGBT rights and I hope that you are too.

We are so close to having this happen but we need your support to do it.  Please support Equality Pennsylvania in our efforts.

Attend our Day of Action at the Capitol in Harrisburg at 10:30am this Wednedsay, June 22nd. Click here for details: equalitypa.org/june22
