Equality Advocates for Lesbian and Gay Civil Rights (the "Center") respects your privacy. Our goal is to be your trusted source of information regarding lesbian and gay civil rights. We want you to make the most of our services and feel confident while doing so online. We have a clear privacy policy: we collect no private, personal information unless you voluntarily supply it. This privacy statement explains under what circumstances we gather your individually identifiable information, how we use it, and who may access that information. It also provides you the means to "opt-out" of providing personal information that you do not wish to provide and to change or remove any identifying information already collected.

We believe that your privacy is of the utmost importance, which is why this statement regarding privacy of personally identifiable information provided online conforms to the Federal Trade Commission's fair information practices of notice, choice, access, and security. Please note that this privacy policy applies only to Equality Advocates's web site, and specifically does not apply to other companies' or organizations' web sites to which we link. We have attempted to mark each of our web pages with Equality Advocates's logo so you will always know where this policy applies.

Personal Information We Collect Online

When you visit Equality Advocates's website, we do not collect any personally identifiable information.

On certain pages within this web site, you are invited to request publications from Equality Advocates. In order to complete an online request, we do not require any personal information. However, Equality Advocates's website contains a link to a third party website through which you can make a donation to Equality Advocates. If you choose to make an online donation, this third party will require information such as your address (including street name, or post office box, city, state and postal code), your credit card number and e-mail address. If you choose to make a donation, we will be given your personal information to process the donation and will add you to our mailing and e-mail distribution lists. You can access the personal information in our files and change or remove your name from such lists by e-mailing info@equalitypa.org. We have utilized the services of this third party to accept donations to provide greater security and protection for you. The provider of this service has agreed not to maintain or use your personal information.

How We Protect Your Information

Equality Advocates is dedicated to the security of your personal information, and we take every commercially reasonable precaution to maintain that protection. To prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, maintain data accuracy, and facilitate the appropriate use of information, we use physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to attempt to protect the personal information we collect online. If you choose to make a donation, our third party service provider utilizes encryption tools when collecting or transferring sensitive information such as credit card numbers.

Do We Employ "Cookies?"

"Cookies" are small data files some websites may store on your computer's hard drive. We do not employ cookies.

Our Use of Your Personal Information

Our primary use of the personal information you volunteer is to contact you regarding products, services, and information you specifically request. In the event you make a donation from Equality Advocates, we will add you to our mailing list from which you may be removed at anytime by e-mailing info@equalitypa.org. We will not share your personal information with any third parties, however, we do utilize a third party service to provide greater security for any on-line donations. This service has agreed not to store or use your personal information.

Our Retention of Your Personally Identifiable Data

Once you have chosen to provide information to Equality Advocates, we will store and maintain the personally identifiable information you have volunteered for so long as you have not directed us otherwise, or for so long as we are required by law.

Choice

Equality Advocates believes that choice is one of the most important privacy principles. You have the choice not to submit any personally identifiable information to us. Once you have provided us with your information, we will add your information to our mail and e-mail contact lists but you may "opt out" at any time simply by contacting us at info@equalitypa.org.

Please note that you will not be able to opt out with regard to the collection and disclosure of aggregate information. Such information does not include anything personally identifiable, however, and simply reflects statistical analysis of various aspects of site usage.

Access and Accuracy

Equality Advocates aims to keep your personally identifiable information as accurate as possible. Should you at any time desire to remove your name from our e-mail or mailing lists, you may contact us at info@equalitypa.org. After receipt of such a request, we will remove your personal information from our records within 30 days.
