SNAP and Pennsylvania LGBTQ Youth The Student Network Across Pennsylvania (SNAP) is a mobilized force of LGBTQ students, youth, and young adults across Pennsylvania. SNAP works to empower young Pennsylvanians to have a voice and an impact on school campuses, in local politics, and at the state level in Harrisburg. SNAP is a program of Equality Pennsylvania and was originally formed in 2007. It was restructured and brought back in January 2010. In this first year back SNAP has worked with hundreds of students, holding over a dozen workshops, panels, and meetings around the state. Now, after a second reincarnation of the group, the future looks promising with upcoming training sessions supported by a grant from the Pepsi Refresh Challenge, a planned lobby day, and new initiatives on making and providing legislative toolkits specifically geared towards PA youth. SNAP's primary focus is on campus and youth organizing for LGBTQ equality in Pennsylvania, but can also choose to take on initiatives that will affect the youth of Pennsylvania that do not necessarily have an LGBTQ focus. To learn more about SNAP, or find out how to connect into the SNAP network, please email us at snapinfo@equalitypa.org or (610) 216-2900. The Student Network Across Pennsylvania (SNAP) Mission Statement The Student Network Across Pennsylvania (SNAP) is a network of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and allied (LGBTQA) students, youth, and young adults. SNAP’s purpose is to provide resources and opportunities to enable members to become involved in the equality movement, become educated about LGBTQA causes and concerns, and to enact change on campuses as well as in communities through the development of an environment of activism, mobilization, & cooperation. SNAP aims to achieve these goals by fostering development of leadership and recognizing the potential for all participants to become mentors and resources.
