It’s the 40th Anniversary of Pennsylvania’s first Executive Order for Discrimination Protections for State Workers

Next month is the 40th Anniversary of the creation of the Pennsylvania Council for Sexual Minorities. Created by executive order by Governor Milton Shapp in February 1976, the Council is the first governmental body devoted to LGBT civil rights and public policy advocacy in the US. A transgender person can face many challenges when navigating the job application and interview process. With special guest Kayden X Coleman, we’ll share resume writing tips, interview skills, and general professional tips as well as discuss situations unique to our community, like trans disclosure in the workplace. We also plan to have a professional clothing exchange at this event. Despite recent victories in states for same-sex couples who want to marry, many lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people and their families live in a state that still needs to update or clarify its laws to include protection from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
