At Equality Pennsylvania, we’re committed to a broad social justice agenda that drives our work for racial justice and immigration equality.
We know that LGBT people of color face incredible challenges that aren’t simply tied to sexual orientation or gender identity. The stories we’ve heard from Pennsylvanians as we’ve traveled the state have made it clear: racism is alive and well, both inside and outside the LGBT community.
We’re active partners with organizations that serve and advocate for people of color. Through these partnerships, we provide a critical LGBT voice, and we are provided with tools and resources to combat racism within the LGBT community.
Like LGBT people of color, LGBT immigrants often face seemingly insurmountable challenges. LGBT immigrants are often forced to live in two closets – hiding their documentation status in addition to their sexual orientation or gender identity.
At Equality Pennsylvania, we believe everyone should be able to live openly and with Pride. That’s why we’re advocating for the Uniting American Families Act, which will provide bi-national same-sex partners with the protection they need and deserve. We’re also fully committed to working toward comprehensive immigration reform that will allow undocumented immigrants to come out of the shadows.
